This is a list of the tallest buildings in the world. This means that the list only include man-made structures that are meant for living in or office work, and does not include towers like radio towers or observation towers. 1. Burj Khalifa, Dubai – The tallest building in the world is the famous Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The building is 828 meters (2,717 ft) tall with 163 floors. It was completed in 2010

2. Shanghai Tower, Shanghai, China – The tallest building in China and second tallest in the world is currently the Shanghai Tower. At 632 meters (2,073 ft) and 128 floors it’s not even close to the monumental Burj Khalifa, but it’s an amazing engineering achievement nonetheless. Construction of the Shanghai tower began in 2008 and reached its final height in August 2013. The building officially opened on June 2015

3. Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel, Saudi Arabia – 601 meters (1,971 ft) and 120 floors. Also known as Abraj Al Bait, it was completed in 2012 and located in Mecca

4. One World Trade Center, New York, United States – 541.3 meters (1,776 ft) and 104 floors. Its opening is planned for 2014. Located on the World Trade Center site

5. Taipei 101, Taiwan – 509 meters (1,670 ft) and 101 floors. Opened in 2004 and located in the city of Taipei. The building ranked officially as the world’s tallest from 2004 until the opening of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2010
